Township High School District 214 Board

Leslie Pinney has served our community as a member of the school board since April 2005 with passion and purpose.  She has kept abreast of a host of issues and has advocated for students, parents and taxpayers in our district.

Leslie grew up in Arlington Heights and is a District 214 alumnus, graduating from Rolling Meadows High School in 1977.  She went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1981.

The welfare of children has continued to be her passion over the years.  She served as a teacher of Sunday school children in the 1980s and went on to be a teacher leader at Willow Creek Community Church.  She also did short-term missionary work at Hogar Para Los Niños, an orphanage in Baja California, Mexico.  In the 1990s, she became a foster parent and later adopted her daughter, who graduated from John Hersey High School in 2004.  Her daughter is pursuing a career in the beauty industry and lives in the city.

Sound financial decisions are good in any economic climate, but most appreciated at this particular time!  Working twenty-six years in the mortgage industry, Leslie has seen the devastation that occurs in families, businesses and government entities when money is spent frivolously and expenses are simply exceeding revenue on a continuing basis.  She wishes to continue to review each line item that involves taxpayer dollars being spent in our district and pursue better, more efficient ways to deliver sound education to our students.

Leslie believes that every child has great potential and, as a board member, seeks to bring each student’s unique talents and giftedness to the forefront so that they are prepared and ready to be part of our community’s workforce, our nation’s military or becoming a student of higher education through trade school or college.  Her goals as a board member involve working on behalf of the taxpayer through wise business decision-making on contracts and purchases, while still attending to the academic needs of our students.
